Today marks my last day.
As I put goodies in the pantry, a few colleagues came to me and asked me what's the occasion for me to share goodies with everyone. My reply was, "today is my last day.." And they got a shocked!
The whole office did not know that I was resigning. Usually, standard practice... a representative frm the dept will email to all informing that "so and so last day will be on (date). We plan to give her a farewell gift etc etc.."
I DO NOT WANT ALL THAT.
I have my reason. Remember the blogging incident involving me and the lady? She was asked to leave unexpectedly and therefore no farewells for her. I have given my resignation letter because I have got a new offer and I requested to the pple in my dept that I WANT NO FAREWELL.
I do not want her minah friends in the office to relate to her that it was unfair I have farewell and she didn't. So to be fair, no farewells for her... same for me... Ok.. enuff.. let's not talk abt her..
Standard procedures in the company that if one leaves, one needs to have the Exit of Notification Letter signed by the director in charge of dept, else the HR won't release the check. I went in to the Director's room (u shld know which director... the same director who decides on my withdrawal of resignation that time) and get his signature.
He asked me questions and of course I respectfully answered him. He wished me all the best and would like to keep in touch VIA Facebook. As I was abt to leave his office (his secretary was outside), he stepped out of his office and said, "If U change your mind or wants to come back, do let me know.."
I related this to my closest colleague. She was awed and shocked by what I shared to her. This is her comment, "See, if U do your work properly and efficiently, U respect pple, pple will respect U.. U want to come back, U have high chances already. I think in future, U can drop him a message VIA Facebook to ask abt his kids, life and so on. I dun find it wrong to do that."
Errr... Sure... I will try...
