Fed up la when my own friends pressurized me with this question, "U have a Marketing degree, u can easily find another better job with higher pay."
Look, do they think its damn easy to find? Economy still not doing well... I can't just resign and quickly look for one. I know I can actively looking for one while I am still working at current company but I don't want. It is not the time yet.
Though I have marketing degree, I lack the communication skills; thats why I am not firm and pple can bully me and 'pijak kepala' and some even thinks I am a stupid grad.. I am not stupid.. its just that I don't have the confidence.
I will try ask for a transfer. There is a Marketing dept in my company. No harm trying so I will try. I have marketing degree but I am not given a chance to embark on marketing area, if they allow me to transfer, that could be a minor to start off with. But I won't ask for a transfer now. I will after July or August. Let's cross fingers and see how...
Why is it July or August? Well, I will be attending a 5 day course (cost $65 - after subsidy) at Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) located at Redhill. The course is known as Certified Service Professional (CSP). 5 day course from 17 June to 23 June (excluding weekends).
Reason I took up the course.
Perhaps, the reason why I can't clinch a marketing job is due to my communication skills. I am not a good communicator. When comes to writing, I'm good but I have no confident to talk to someone who is of a higher post than me. FYI, I have no idea that the CSP course existed. Last November, I accompanied A to a job seminar organized by e2i and Marina Bay Sands, and of course I must make myself look as if I am attending the seminar too so I filled up my details and everything. A would like to get the bellman job for a start. As for me, I was only accompanying him because he can't seem to be independent; well A's sister told me he's a late bloomer so I have to be patient with him.
So I have to fill up the "Position Applied For" details as a front office agent post for Marina Bay Sands. I also undergo the interview. During the interview, I was informed that I am able to get the job but I have no pre-requisite skills such as, customer service, retailing and the way I deliver my communication to them.
I know I failed the latter. However, I was told that if I am really interested to be in the service-oriented industry, I will have to sacrifice my time and go for course. It took me a while to decide. After months of contemplating, I have decided to attend the stated course.
InsyaAllah, if God Wills it, I am able to get a marketing job after I have learnt the effective communication skills from the course.
That's why I mentioned that I will try to bring up to the management either in July or August. Who knows, with the extra certificate and my effective communication skills, they allow me to transfer and start of with a junior position in marketing (of coz I dun mind at all).
Let's just hope for the best. Amin.
