1) 15 October - Its my leave..my WISH

A non-muslim colleague asked me on 15th October bersamaan 3 Syawal, "MBS, u neva take leave today for raya?"

Duhz.. Why SHE WANNA KNOW?! SHE'S NOT A HR! THE HR PERSON NEVA CALL AND ASK ME.

But not to be rude, I answered nicely, "No!" Then.. Aiyoh! This was what I hate it... PLEASE LAH IF I NEVA TAKE LEAVE SINCE SEPTEMBER DONT ANY HOW ASSUME I DO NOT HAVE ANY MORE LEAVES!

She assumed, "NO MORE LEAVE ALREADY AH?"

"NO! I STILL HAVE A LOT OF LEAVE (exaggerate abit ah to frustrate her) AND DUN ASK ME WHEN TO CLEAR MY LEAVE..ITS MY LEAVE..MY WISH WHEN TO TAKE AND WHEN NOT TO TAKE."

Colleagues around me looked at me with a "wah MBS dah berani" look. That particular colleague (she ah very kepo one lah every thing wana know - remember an entry about she thought I was late but in actual fact I went to the bank and she exclaimed, "Like real only..." I am referring to the same person!) kept quiet..

No more interrogated questions from her..

PLEASE LAH.. EVEN IF YOU WANNA BE KEPO, SET SOME LIMITS LAH! TAKING LEAVE OR NOT TAKING LEAVE ITS PERSONAL MATTER OK?!

2) 16 October 2007 - DO I LOOK FAT? DO I LOOK LIKE PREGNANT?

I was on my way home from work. As usual, the mrt is crowded with people. There wasnt any place to sit. I stand. I always stand while I was in the train. I was standing in front of this lady who sat down and above her was the notice, "Please give this seat to the person who needs it more than you do."

She kept looking at me. I dun bother la as long as she doesnt create trouble. Then, she stood up and offer me the seat. I was shocked and surprised and I rejected the offer. I told her, "No, its OK. Thanks. Y dun u sit.." However, she was persistant to offer me that seat. I still do not wish to sit down.

Then, she dropped the bombshell. "U're PREGNANT rite? Thats why I offer the seat to you." (and there were a few pple heard that!)

DO U KNOW HOW I FELT WHEN SHE SAID THAT?! AKU NI GEMUK SANGAT KER?! And the dress I wore... For the first time, I would like to try to wear a dress anyway that dress is the trend nowadays AND YET pple say I AM PREGNANT?

Look at this picture and judge yourself: DO I LOOK LIKE A PREGNANT WOMAN ? Oh, btw.. I answered her, "No..I am not pregnant.. How can I be when I am not even married yet?!" She made me embarassed in front of the passengers with her perception that I was pregnant so to be fair, I also made her embarrased with that answer of mine. In the end, she return to her seat and apologized.

Back home, I related to my mum and grandma. My mum told me, "Pple give u seat, just sit la!"

My grandma has no other comments. My younger sis overheard it and she exclaimed, "Next time just sit and say this,'Thanks for offering me the seat but for ur info, I am not pregnant."

Now I do not know whether I look nice or like a pregnant woman in that dress. Mind you, I have 2 more of that kinda dress. Sesekali tu tukarlah imeg pakaian.. takkan takmau upgrade.. then bila dah nak tukar imej >> pregnant?!! Sighz...

3)17 October - CFL

I bumped into CFL, my ex-colleague from Donaldson who left in March 2007 to have a fresh start in RODYK & DAVIDSON LLP. I do not know if her initials is the same in Rodyk.

We had a chat and I popped out this question. (dun worry, she did not suspect anything)

Me: There's a guy name XXXXXX doing Patents right?

CFL: XXXXXX? Yeah. There is. He's friendly, approachable. He has a sister working at the same place also.

CFL, u dun have to tell me.. I know.. Hahaha...

CFL: He said, his sisters played violin in an orchestra... I nodded..

I know lah CFL.. but I didnt tell her that.. I only say it silently in my heart.

CFL: He look very young like ur age like that..

Me: (WHAT?! My age?! Hahaha.. If he's my age, what about his sisters then?) Oh.. How u know he's around my age?

CFL: From the way he dress, I can tell.

Me: I see . . . .

Me: So, hows work there? More stress? Less stress?

CFL: Ok ah.. There more relax. I deal with less deadlines. Here (Donaldson) aiyoh deadline here deadline there. Me: I see. Then u do Patent or Trademark? Or both over there?

CFL: I do trade marks only. Here (Donaldson) when I got promoted to be secretary to CEL, and I have to do both trade mark and patent.Aiyah.... I headache u know when I have to do patent.

Me: Ooh.. U ask to be put to Trademarks?

CFL: No lah.. Up to the management. I'm lucky that I am given trademarks.

Me: Got any vacancy?

CFL: Dun know leh. U write in lah. Last time, me and SM (MK's secretary) write in for fun. Then I got called in by them. U try lah.

Pause.

Me: Over there, is ur position secretary same like here?

CFL: No. My work is not like a secretary. I dun report to lawyers. I do like what u do ah clerical work but they dun call the designation as clerk. They call it support staff.

Me: So is like support staffs? Secretarial support la the name they call it to make it nice..

CFL: Something like that.

CFL: How much Donaldson pay u?

Me: (was reluctant at first to say it) err..

CFL: Aiyah.. u dun err err lah.. U dun know ah.. Donaldson staff cannot keep secret one. This person get this kind of pay, they know.. That person get higher pay that this person, they also know. Thats why got backstabbing until involve rice bowl. If they find out ur pay more than them ah.. abis lah they will make sure u dun stay long in donaldson..

Me: REALLY? THAT BAD?!

CFL: It happened many times. Not to me to some other colleagues. That's why I leave there before who knows, the same thing can happen to me.

Me: Ohh..CFL: So how much Donaldson pay u? Dun worry lah.. I no longer in donaldson. I dun keep in touch with them also. Sumtimes bump into them, then we chit chat lah normal chit chat like u and me right now.

Me: Ok.. $1600. (I cant possibly say $1650)CFL: Ok what.. not bad. If u write in to any law firm like there (Rodyk), Drew, A & G, Lee & Lee or any big law firms out there ah, u can ask for higher pay. Market price leh..

Me: Oh. I thought too steep for some companies.

CFL: No lah.. other companies in other lines, yes they may find it high but if other companies like law firm, they dun find it high.

Me: (nodded) Ok.. I shall try. (smile at her)
