I was on leave on 8th January and 9th January BECAUSE of EXAMINATIONS.. And yet, when I return on 11 Jan, its OK for da piles of work on my desk, already used to it.. but I was asked if I took leave to go for an interview? (I am referring to pple in my dept, not on 15th floor but on 16th floor)
I was huh? When I said no, this is what I get for a reply, "U diploma wat.. U want to work here as a clerk? Outside ah Diploma grads earning $$1500 and above and their position not clerk.. U took leave and u didnt go looking for other jobs but stay at home? Wasted rite, ur annual leave?" (So? IT'S MY LEAVE? My leave was approved and 2 superiors has approved and didnt ask me anything, y they so bloody busybody?!!)
FYI, I didnt tell anyone in my work plc that I am pursuing a part time distant learning degree except for BB (my colleague from TM dept whom I am a little closer to), PW, B and J (from accounts dept). (So da four of them know y I was on leave). If I were to tell da rest of them, I will get 'headache'. They are bunch of busybodies who wants to now all ur achievements and failures.. and compare u with others (maybe to sumone they know). Worse still, they will give very sarcastic remark like, "If u know u r going to study for a degree, y work as a clerk, work as sumthing else la.. got standard." Or maybe, "U work here pay not that high, can pay ur sch fees or not." Or who knows, they will say, "If u can afford to study degree, y still work?" So I am happy to keep low profile.. Dun show off too much.
P/S: If lets say da rest got to know abt me studying degree (I dun know how they know), so what? They should know this Respect my privacy. Studying degree is considered as my private life. If they make such a fuss, it means that they dun know what is privacy to them.
Anyway, IS CLERK CONSIDERED A DEGRADING JOB? HELLO!! OTHER PLACES, THEY OFFER $1200 TO CLERK POSITIONS.. I AM VERY GRATEFUL TO this law firm I am currently working in for giving me $1600 FOR a CLERK POST. REASON? (maybe) I HAVE DIPLOMA..

P/S: Eventhough, I am close with PW, B and J, I still didnt tell them abt my pay. Since da letter of confirmation says private and confidential, I shall not tell anyone in da company abt my pay to avoid any discrepancy.
Most hurting remark is this, "U study diploma but work here? If ur position secretary neva mind but clerk only.. pay also n0t much. Waste ur diploma only."
I know they must be thinking THAT I AM SUCH A STUPID DUMB ASS GAL WHO HAS A DIPLOMA BUT DUN MIND A CLERK POSITION. Because they are earning $1200 or $1300 (I think) and they are not Diploma holders. They thought that I got da same pay as them (they didnt know actual pay - confidential - so they thought I am stupid for accepting such a low pay for a high qualification. )
They think TBH / ELK (da boss / da boss in charge of TM) are stupid for giving a diploma holder an O level pay? Of coz they should see market price (how much diploma holders earn at least! - starting pay) They are da stupid ones!

Now I know what is meant by office politics.
Part of my job scope is to report advertisement and once it is advertised, da Certificate of Registration will be issued. So, when that Registration Certificates comes, da respective clerk who has to do da reporting has to check whether advertisement is already advertised before reporting da registration certificate.
I know there are some back logs. I have to concentrate on da CD 29, CD 64 and CD 17 coz da datelines are set by da Registry of Trade Marks and if I exceed da due date, trade mark will be abandon by da Registrar. So I concentrate on that first.
So, when I return from my leave, that respective clerk (I wrote abt her b4 - remember an entry whereby she isnt too happy that Hady wins (coz she was rooting for Jonathan to win - she supports race and not talent) and she suspect I may have voted many, many times till Hady emerged as da winner securing 70% of da votes?) came over to me and gave a pile of TM Files for me to report on advertisement to da clients and bill them (if neccessary) She was being sarcastic by saying, "2 days u neva come, c ur work like 2 weeks.." And I take it lightly so I said, "I'll be like a robot and try to expedite as much as I can."
WANNA KNOW WHAT SHE REPLIED? I WAS FLABBERGASTED WHEN SHE EXPRESS THIS (with a smirk smile on her face), "Ur assistant?" I was bewildered by da word, "assistant". So, I gave her a confused look and answered, "Assistant?" Again with that stupid smirk smile on da same face, "U got assistant rite?" I told her straight to her face with an unhappy look on my face, "NO!" She was very dissastified with my reply and insisted on knowing if I really have an assistant or about to have, "I thought u ask him (ELK) for assistant?"
THATS IT!!! I HAVE HAD IT!! THIS IS TOO RECREMENTITOUS!! WHERE DID SHE GET THIS RIDICULOUS INFORMATION FROM?!!!
I said straight at her face, "He (ELK) is da one who ask if I wan someone to assist me. I said, its OK I can manage, I can cope." (I lied. He didnt ask that. I was just making it up to make her shut up. If I didnt exaggerate, she will not stop and she will have an untrue perception that I will have an assistant soon. So, to make her shut her bloody mouth shut, I have to lie. I know I shldnt but my mum and friends did give me a piece of advice that when u're in da working world, u must know how to "cheat" and "lie" in a smart way.)
I won!! She finally said, "Oh.. u can cope...."
I CANT ENDURE IT ANYMORE! I CANT WAIT TILL 2008 (after I completed my degree). I JUST WANT TO GET OUT OF THERE ASAP. DA OFFICE POLITICS IN THIS LAW FIRM I AM EMPLOYED TO IS TOO EXTREME FOR ME TO BEAR.
